EDUC 240 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Task Analysis
Document Summary
Why is a needs analysis required: to determine who needs training and what type of training they need; it is used to help identify gaps or deficiencies in employee and organizational performance. Data collection: the most extensive stage in the needs analysis process. Person analysis: examines how well an employee performs the critical tasks and his/her knowledge, skills, and abilities. Lack of knowledge, skills, motivation and group norms and counterproductive reward systems are all human barriers to effective performance. Task analysis: questionnaires, structured interviews and observation are techniques used in a task analysis to survey a sample of job incumbents. Organizational analysis: the study of the entire organization including its strategy, environment, resources, and context.
