The thinkers live on the outside of it. Conveyor belt system, no real use to it, it is to get to one place to another. On the bottom it is always changing. The pallasians are all about decoration and renovating their planet. It is about aesthetic pleasure; they are doing art for art"s sake (they choose the final cause) Art can have different functions like religion, teaching etc. This is the dominate conception of making on the planet. The tower is supposed to make the planet more wonderful and maginificent. The light cloud burns skin of pallasians and is anti-gravitational, so they cannot get to it. He wants things to look as smooth and shining as possible. Lesabendio: he comes up with idea of tower construction, the purpose is to investigate the cloud. He has idea that the planet is a double star, it is orbiting together with a second star.
