Label liberalism as idealist: realism and liberalism are opposite theory"s, differ in the way they look at human nature. Liberalism is optimist: realist are pessimistic, there"s always tensions and the threat of war in the international system that could snap at any given moment, humans love dominance, deals with survival and security. Leads to/ focuses on power and military capabilities. Human being are brought back to savages: humans are selfish and need rules and consequences. In this environment everyone"s main objective is to survive therefore no one trust anyone else, always on alert, world full of tension: state of war, all against all. Life in this state is solitary, brutal, and short: everyone has endless freedom but your never safe. Collectively pooled way of protecting yourself: what is power, the ability to do (or refrain) from doing something, and the ability to make someone else do (or refrain) from doing something, why to people want power.
