Protected the right to organize unions for the purpose of collective bargaining and the right to strike. Snider case: a landmark court case in 1925 that determined that labor matters fell under the purview of the provinces under the british north america act. Copy of the wagner act but it was not intended to be a permanent measure. The parliament of canada has jurisdiction for labor relations in a number of key industries (broadcasting, chartered banks, postal service, airports and air transportation, shipping and navigation, telecommunications, etc. Employees of a given firm could belong to more than one union and therefore interunion conflict over representation rights was not uncommon.
