His two great enemies: christianity, ancient philosophy. Need for religion is only within human beings. You only really understand what you can see. Because you can"t see them, you fear them. (power of invisible) Political consequences: we are who to say, if we cant see it. The church has been infected by ancient philosophy. To get street smart, you have to get experience. People have different strengths, better at telling jokes or a better musician. But people don"t want to admit to matter. We don"t to accept the idea that others are wiser. Consequence: equality of ability= equality of hope. Its politically important that we persuade people that we"re equal. We have to distrust each other, if people can take advantage of you, you cant trust them. (basis of war, between individuals) Someone tries to kill you hobbes is the rst one to say that its political signi cant. Something so above of us that keeps us safe.
