Notes on the book serial murderers and their victims . Multiple murders are one of the most terrifying and fascinating phenomena of modern-day crime. This puts into perspective how vulnerable we can be when someone decides to kill us. Examples of multiple murders are school shootings, mall shootings, etc. Multiple murder is one of the most sensationalized areas of research within the fields of criminology, psychology, and sociology. There seems to be an issue with getting the real facts due to the media. This is why even the best researches have a hard time getting the actual facts about serial murderers and their victims. Philip jenkins, in his book, wrote about serial killing and how it is deal with by the media. He came to the conclusion that much of what we know, or claim to know, is based on misinformation and myth construction. One of the greatest myths surrounding serial murder is that they are all, by definition, sexual.
