The large intestine is composed of the cecum , appendix, and colon(pathway to rectum) Cecum is the site of fermentation of undijestible material happens, there can be cynbiotic bacaterial. Fermantes into molecules which then can be obserbed. Carnivor has a small cecum, while a herbivore has a long cecum. Colon- finishes jon of water reabsorption, and forming fieces for elimination. 90% is reabsorbed, and most absorption happens in th esmll intestine. Getting rid of all undigested material. the colon of all animals has a lot of bacteria. Digestive hormones trigeer the secretion of gastric juices and digestive enzymes. Excess energy is stored as glycagon in liver and muscle then as fat in adipose cells. A satiety centre in the brain generates the nerve impulses that make us feel hungry or full. Ghrelin hormone tells us if we are hungry Leptin is produed by adipose and regulates long term appetite.
