Feeding activities of these species have a dominant influence on community structure: strong interaction is a degree of influence on community structure. Rocky intertidal: main limiting resource: space, competitive dominant species: mussels. Predation: pistaster removed mussels, opens space for less competitive species: pisaster has a strong effect even while in low abundance . When removed from the community, after 5 years, only mussels and gooseneck barnacles remain competitive exclusion of other species. Exert strong effects on community structure despite low biomass: species found in high biomass are dominant species, not keystone, impact on prey, and prey of prey, re-introduction of wolves into yellowstone park. Plant populations also increase due to less predation by elk. Beavers: other engineers, maintain or create substantial habitats for other species. If we removed cleaner fish, eels with out cleaners have 4x more parasites than eels with cleaners.
