KINE 1104 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Sagittal Plane, Standard Anatomical Position, Anatomical Terms Of Motion
Document Summary
Understand basic kin terms o anatomical position: planes, directions. Remember all directional terms ae base on the body being in the anatomical position. Imaginary at surfaces that divide the human body. Are used to identify areas of the body. Sagittal planes: divides body into sides, linear movement = walking, lunging, frwd & bkwrd. Moving head, arms and legs fwd, bkwd o flexion (closing: extension (opening) ! Moving arms & legs sideways o adduction: abduction. Transverse plane: divides body into top and bottom halves. Rotation of shoulder: internal (medial) internal o external (lateral) external. Rotation of the forearm: supination (cup of soup in hand) (soupinate) o pronation (no soup) Superior: towards the head or the upper part of a structure. Inferior: away from the head or lower part of a structure. The collarbone is superior to your rib cage, hip bone is inferior to the rib cage. Posterior: toward the back of the body. Anterior: toward the front of the body.
