All the disk diffusion results are falling outside of the acceptable qc ranges. Leblanc, recognizing his limitations, calls you knowing that you"ve successfully completed 4218. Discuss the factors/ variables that can adversely affect the types and sizes of zones seen using the kirby. Describe the phenomenon seen at right (s. penumoniae). Temperature, inoculum density,ph, potency of the disc, accuracy of reading the zones, incubation time. Double disk diffusion test looking for inducible mls resistance. Do not collect the first 5-6 drops of blood to remove the skin plug. Collect 4 bottles for blood culture (only for bacillus, coagulase staph 4 bottles are need ed to be positive to be real) Name 3 organisms dependent on capsule formation for their virulence.
