This institution is shaped by the people who are a part of them (universities or other institutions) We occupy status" that cause the shaping and reshaping. Institutions do not exist if we do not exist in them. They are also shaped by the purpose of the university which is de ned by outside institutions (government, economy, medical industry) Gadamer: not indoctrination , but participation in research and not just by faculty . The meaning of university is not to be trained or instructed into a way of thinking. It is also about the students putting together their own work while thinking and engaging with research. This is a space to think for yourselves. Emphasizes the great freedom of university; being able to pursue an idea just because you think it is worth questioning. Some meanings of university are beginning to get lost. Began as students being drawn to the community because they care about the world.
