Stainless steel metal brackets bracket, arch wire, self ligating brackets, elastic ligature. Separators: placed to create space for orthodontic band placement, not required if there is adequate space, must be in place for 1 week prior to band placement. Properties of an ideal separator : painless, remains in place until removed. Alastik/elastic separators: provide gentle persistent pressure by encircling the contacts where space is required for banding. Floss contacts to determine the size to use sm, med,or large: determine if the contact is tight enough to warrant separation. Client education: notify the office if one falls out before your next appt. , they must remain for 1 week, do not remove any, be careful not to floss where they are placed and brush area gently.
