Therapeutic group: communication within groups for psychological purposes (psychodrama, sociometry) Group dynamics: used to describe the communication processes and behaviours occurring during the life of a group; individual and group characteristics. Functional similarity: choosing group members who have enough in common intellectually, emotionally, and experientially to interact meaningfully with each other. Group purpose: rationale for a group"s existence; determines type of communication, activities, goals. Group norms: behavioural rules of conduct expected of group members; provide predictability. Universal norms: stated behavioural standards that must be present in all group for effective outcomes (confidentiality, attendance, etc)
