East African Rift Valley Early Miocene Primates (20-17 mya) Proconsul Africanus  Resembled living apes.  Forward facing eye orbits.  Smaller snout.  Larger brain.  Frugivorous dentition.  Lacked enlarged incisors.  Lacked high-cusped molars.  Generalized arboreal quadruped.  Probably could suspend.  Lacked a tail. Middle to Late Miocene Primates Dryopithecus (14-5 mya)  Very similar to Proconsul  West and Central Europe
