Female Menopause in Human  Unique to humans (except of whales, guppies)  Kristen Hawkes – Grandmother hypothesis  Logical explanation – humans give birth to helpless/underdeveloped babies  Very dangerous to give birth  Females risk their own lives and the lives of the prev. children  Instead of giving birth, females can use their energy to take care of their children – to ensure the survival of your grandchildren Fitness  Fitness (in the evolutionary sense) refers to the differential reproductive success of individuals within a species  Genetically determined traits  Those that can smell food better have a higher revolutionary fitness  Its not a guarantee but it increases their possibility of survival Micro- vs. Macro-Evolution 
