Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (gnrh): secreted by the hypothalamus to control release of other hormones. Follicle-stimulating hormone (fsh): promotes the production of sperm, released by anterior pituitary gland. Lutenizing hormone (lh): controls the production of testosterone, released by anterior pituitary gland. Testosterone: produced by interstitial (leydig) cells of the gonad. Important for normal development and functioning of the male reproductive organs (masculinization) Uterus: pear-shaped organ that houses and nourishes developing baby. Uterine wall: uscle layer that stretch to accommodate the developing babe. Endometrium: lining of the uterus that is built up and lost each month as menstrual flow; the usual site of implantation. Cervix: opening of uterus that extends into the vaginia. Vagina: muscular tube that receives the penis during sexual intercourse; birth canal. Oviduct: one of two ciliated tubes that conduct the egg or embryo if fertilization occurred toward the uterus; the usual site of fertilization. Ovary: one of the two gonad produce egg and sex hormone (estrogen and progesterone)
