Businesses interact with government in particular as a result of licensing and regulation of business activities. In order to organize business practices to comply with general regulatory and statutory law businesses are required to comply with governmental authority, and are affected directly by the decisions made by government authorized decision makers. Government directly regulates certain businesses through agencies such as the liquor control board, the environmental review board, the motor vehicle branch and the employment standards branch. Governments also impose general regulatory and statutory requirements on all business activities. Government indirectly regulates business by delegating government and state authority to statutory bodies which are granted the state power to make decisions that affect citizens and business.
