Nigeria makes more movies than hollywood every year. Contemporary hollywood cinema can be read as a contest of representation and a contested terrain that reproduces existing social struggles . Film has the advantage to show rather than just tell. Im taller than you (verbal) ill show you that i"m taller than you is more effective. Movies don"t show us just the world, it shows us just world . Films are idealized to be the way we want to live in. Hollywood makes blockbusters because they draw huge audiences. Makes sequels because it is a safer economic gamble than trying to be innovative and genuinely creative. Puts the same actors in title roles because they are guaranteed box office successes not because they are better actors.
