CRIMINOLOGY: Modern Biological Trait, Behavior, Violence and Aggression, Media and Violence and Crime & Intelligence Modern Biological Trait Biochemical Conditions Diet  Nutrition deficiencies during gestation, early childhood (i.g vitamins minerals)  Sugar And Violence -evidence is mixed -recent studies find that sugar is a calming effect  Hypoglycemia (Low blood sugar) -some evidence of link to aggressive behavior Hormones  Male aggression and androgens -testosterone has been linked to violence -hormone levels are affected by exposure to violence  Female aggression and hormonal fluctuation -PMS (premenstrual syndrome). Rarely used as legal defense -Munchausen’s syndrome by proxy. Identified in 1970s. little consensus or nature or cause Allergies and Contaminants  affect nervous systems  linked to depression, aggression, hyperactivity  The usual suspects: -cows milk, wheat, corn, chocolate, citrus and eggs Environmental Contaminants dangerous levels of copper, cadmium, mercury, various gases -emotional and behavioural disorders?
