 Spread of disease o Linked to changes in temperatures of niche environments o Some pathogen-bearing insects are sensitive to climate (e.g., mosquitos) o Diseases of concern: Lyme disease, dengue fever, yellow fever, malaria, etc. Proposals for dealing with Climate Change  Reduction of GHG emissions by: o Moving away from fossil-fuel based economy  Can’t see that coming anytime soon; but people developing alternatives  Gas is convenient fossil fuel o Increased development of renewable energy (e.g, wind, solar, tidal) and alternative (geothermal, nuclear) energy sources o CO2 sequestration (must be permanent to be useful)
