Federalism in Canada o Division of power in Canada mapped on to Westminster system o Not based on parliamentary supremacy o Westminster system concentrates power at executive level o Very different from American system where power is divided within the different orders of government (eg. President, Congress, House of Representatives) o In Canada, it is centralized o Canada extremely non-centralized state o Almost all policy action requires cooperation between Federal and Provincial Governments o Need cooperation between Federal and Provincial to simply get things done; they cannot do things on their own in the modern era o This creates system of Executive Federalism in Canad
