Forming and Types of Government Forming Government o Ultimate responsibility for choosing a government rests with the crown o In appointing PM the crown must choose the person who most likely will command the confidence of the house o Government remains in power until the Prime Minister resigns on its behalf o The Prime Minister must resign if government has lost confidence of the house and no confidence of winning confidence of new house o Martin in 2006 still had power to stay as PM  he could’ve said to GG that he had confidence to run as PM  all about no chance of winning confidence in new house o If the other party wins majority, the other party has no chance of having confidence o The Crown needs to be kept separate from the decision making o No where in the constitution does it talk about the PM, but it talks about the Crown o We have dem
