Easy defence, they can bottleneck the enemy. How rome was created (not even romans know) He escaped from troy with his son and his father on his back. He ends up in what will be rome and creates a city for his son. One of his son"s kids is named amulius (pronounced julius) and that starts the julian clan. They were the twin sons of mars (god of war). They were lost on earth and eventually decided to start a city. To populate it, they allowed anybody in who wanted in, which was very unusual. When it came time to decide who would get to run the city, they both went to separate spots and looked to the sky for an omen. They each saw something, but they debated over who"s omen meant what, so eventually romulus killed remus and named the city rome. Romans didn"t actually believe these were true, but they liked them for various reasons.
