Document Summary

Men and women and not seen as equals in the eyes of the greeks. Women are seen as lesser beings to men and that it is the men who teach the woman how to perform tasks correctly. It is very much the same mentality that humanity had in the 19th and early 20th century. Women were meant to only take care of the children, cook, clean etc. while men do all the hard labour such as going to war, hunting, shing etc. Women are also seen as slaves, as they are under the control of their husbands, fathers and brothers (pomeroy 81). However, there is something else to the greek view of men and women. Greeks believe that men and women are meant to be companions and compliment each other (warman 45). In unit 1 we see that the divine is the gods. It shows that zeus is their leader and they live inde nitely.
