Fowler of pyle"s death, suggesting he knows what fowler knows. Presumably, fowler does feel a degree of guilt visible at the end of the novel. What does pyle reveal to fowler on pages 49-52: pyle can"t perceive that fowler"s relationship with phuong could be important to him. , pyle"s logic is that what he has done is right, noble and honourable. He has very high ideals of how people need to behave and act.
