Justice is the moral concept that first springs to mind in connection with law. The general idea of justice is that individuals are entitled in respect of each other to a certain relative position of equality and inequality. The fundamental precept of justice is treat like cases alike; treat different cases differently . The problem of relevance is a central issue in contemporary discussion of justice. Not a set principle to describe characteristics of what are relevant: formal or administrative justice. The justice of laws themselves depend on distributive or compensatory justice.
