Cheilitis = cracking at the corners: teeth & gums. Teeth normally look white, straight, evenly spaced, & clean & free of debris or decay: note any diseased, absent, loose, or abnormally positioned teeth. Ask patient to bite & note alignment of upper & lower jaw. Gums normally look pink or coral with a stippled (dotted) surface.
