Getting together: the process of romance (cid:2) That there will be love at first sight. Get married and live happily ever after. There is constant reinforcement of these themes same plot, over and over again. Popular myth: man meets woman, they fall passionately in love, and after a suitable interval, fade into the misty shadows of the wedding. As boys, they watch the same movies as girls, so they see themselves as the knight, as the rescuer, and the one who slays dragons; they are the heroes. As they grow up, they are competitive, conquering; they want to be leader, smart and tough (sports) As adults, they see themselves as breadwinners; working and providing for their family; not the one staying in the home. However, they myth for many, turns out to be an illusion. Life is ordinary; it is routine . bills to pay, cleaning the house, taking care of the kids, family responsibilities become disappointed.
