Etymology traces words back to their original meaning. The first part of the word ( tymo) means true. The second part of the word (l gos) means word. In an etymology tree, you split the word into two different sections: tymo and l gos. Then link a line to those words, the line connected with the definition. Then find other words that derive from that word. Then find words that derive from that word"s other source word. Also adding new definitions to existing words (ex: tweet). Two words becoming less of synonyms. (ex: dictionary, lexicon) Languages derive from older languages, following this pattern
