The sophists make the standard of truth and falsehood go away all that matters is that. The main concern for pre-socratics was natural philosophy: how the natural world works (metaphysics, ontology), but also touched on good life , morality, and so forth and other elements of moral and social philosophy (eg the role of governance) Sophists view philosophy as aimed not at metaphysics, but as a discussion of ethics and politics. Thought they may not be philosophers in the full sense, they do bring moral matters to the forefront (a pro, introduce philosophy to moral concerns) will be rejected by later philosophers including plato. The sophists were teachers of rhetoric (argumentation is taught, as well as logic ) and self- presumed to be wise (sophistes).
