Be able to define watsons (will be asked) There are 3 aspects to behavioural pscyh. Philosophy of behaviourism: set of assumptions and how best to study and understand actions of. Perspective of overt behaviour, how the environment affects the behaviour. Basic science of behaviourism: research methods that are used by behaviourists, sometimes similar to other areas of psychology but are sometimes different. Uses methodology to find basic principles of behaviour, the underlying laws of behaviour, to test a theory. Technology of behaviour: take basic principles and apply to real world to solve problems. Typically referred to as behaviour therapy (social learning theory, albert bandura), behaviour modification (radical, skinner), or applied behaviour analysis (aba). Overt behaviour: behaviour that we can see. Covert behaviour (private behaviour): whats going on inside, subjective thoughts and feelings, only self is aware of them. Structuralism emphasized here, what is going on inside affects the observable behaviour. Structuralists asks people to report on thoughts and feelings.
