Reality is thus a network of cause and effect, interrelatedness. The poisoned arrow: the answers the cousin was looking for were irrelevant to the relief. Contemporary notion of universal causation: there are no uncaused actions or events. Also described as interdependent arising: a doctrine about causality. Causal conditions are emphasized: nothing exists outside of the causal nexus. one (ie is not brahmin) but subject to change and interdependence. Third noble truth states that removing the cause will remove the suffering. In the noble truths we can think of suffering and overcoming it in terms of causes. Thus before he comes up with the do doctrine, he is thinking about cause. If suffering was random and uncaused, it would not be eliminable but he argues it is eliminable the buddha does not think of this as a metaphysical claim, rather he is interested in the human condition.
