Delayed body temperature: the persons body takes longer to fall. Drug use: cocaine, alcohol and then they try to treat it with alcohol which may cause. Benzos become addictive, and can cause rebound anxiety/rebound insomnia. Melatonin: what makes you sleepy, opposite of orexin. The histamine system: allergy meds are antihistamines, makes you tired. Asleep; the body doesn"t cool quickly enough to induce sleepiness sleepiness, but not the proper type of sleep. Treated with sleeping pills sch as benzos: more likely now to be ambien (hypnotics but non benzodiazepines) insomnia, but does not work long term (placebo effect). Treatment is modafinil: no one knows how the drug works, but does work by promoting wakefulness, increases feelings of organization. Abused at ivy league schools, increases productivity and perfectionism. Thyroid medications may work: some studies despite no thyroid issues do work. Antidepressants get rid of cataplexy issues in narcolepsy (something to do with serotonin/nt balances)
