Document Summary

Na ve realism is a simple idea with large implications. The belief that the way we see the world is the way the world is. Not aware of the subjective influences on our construal but recognize it in others. People thought that the listeners were more likely to figure out what the song was. They knew what the song was and assumed that it would be painfully obvious to the other person. A more formal explanation of na ve realism is that there are three tenets of it. 3a: they have the wrong information, by sharing info we can reach an agreement. 3b: they"re lazy or aren"t making rational decisions based on the info. 3c: they are biased by ideology or self interest or some other distorting influence. Tendency to be unaware of our biases when they actually occur. We think that if we were acting in a biased way, we would feel it when we introspect.
