Chapter 7: victimology, victim services & victim rights. The role of the victim serves as evidence of the crime that was committed. Rights movement-victims ought to be taken into account far more in our criminal justice system than as in the case of the last thousand years. The united nations can play a part in this. Fear that those who are charged with the operation of the criminal justice system (lawyers and judges), the fear that once you get victims involved, the justice process (objectivity like sentencing) may start to disappear. Victim"s rights upheld most strongly if governments found ways to prevent victimization. Less than 1/3 of victims will call the police about the crime. Federal bill of rights does not include complaints procedure. Victim services are provided mostly in small communities that include a police officer or rcmp attachment. Community agencies; either totally dedicated to these services, or are engaged in multiple programs of the criminal justice system.
