Document Summary

The ancient greeks figured that males and females must share some essence that mixes to produce the progeny. But they had no idea what that essence might be. Thanks to microscope, we can now actually see that essence . We can see what is being shared: the cells. Heredity occur when cell from the father a one from the mother unite. A sperm from the father and eggs from the mother unite and form a new cell, a single cell (from the fusion the sperm and egg). Something gets transferred by these 2 cells which than gets united and fertilization occurs. (don"t need to memorize the detail of the cell slide). Than we get a new organism because the fused cell divides and form a lot of identical cells. After multiple division, there is the formation of an organism (as big as a whale from one single cell) Each cell division takes about 15 min.
