Document Summary

Sometimes indirectly; if we eat meat, we are eating an animal that ate plants. Without this, there really would be no life. Plants take up carbon dioxide and water, and output oxygen. This is important because one way or another, we live on plants. It used to be that about 70% of people were involved in farming in some way. Now, about 2% of the population supply all the food for the rest of us. As the population grew, there was need for more and more food. This was a problem because conventional agriculture at that time was not advanced enough to make the amount of food necessary to feed all these people. Today, we have fantastic technology that allows to produce massive amounts of food. With the amount of food options that we have today, it is possible to eat better than anyone has ever eaten in history.
