Document Summary
Recap of last lecture o o o. Rc circuits: charging of a capacitor the uncharged capacitor is connected in series with a battery and a resistor. During the charging process a current (flow of charges) will arise in the circuit. Positive charge in red line is the convention; so positive charge is going away from the positive plate and leaving the negative plate of the capacitor (charge is induced; it is not transferred. Across capacitor) - circulating in a clockwise direction. It is important to realize that the actual current travels from the negative terminal to the capacitor on the negative plate: close the switch/charging capacitor. Right after closing switch at t = 0 - circuit will have current going through but negligible charge on the capacitor (analogy: fast starting a car - acceleration there but speed not yet) Q = 0 -> so vc = q/c = 0 and v0 = vr.
