Although not explicitly articulated in the workshop, they have informed the development of rez project: mcgill residences operates under a one rule of respect philosophy. This project is the beginning of a process for residents, and intended to shake students" potential assumptions, and then empowering them to keep learning about social justice issues. Rez project aims to equip students with multiple frameworks for thinking about difference. It is important that a safe(r) space is created where these emotions are acknowledged and worked through a framework of accountability and self- awareness. By recognizing that power, privilege and oppression are constants day-to-day realities, Rez project seeks to help build strong support systems in residences in the short term, and allies in anti-oppression in the long term!
