Many of these studies of the present are close to these other academic fields that deal with young materiality. The relationship between objects and things and how material culture shapes human practice and the human practice shapes material culture. Started in the 1970"s, it is related to historical archaeology(outgrowth of it), located in the broader field of postprocessual archaeology but is still different.
