Class 9 - engaged anthropology: cultural relativism: there is no stable ground to judge cultures, since our judgement is based on our culture. From our culture to another context where it would not make sense. Science tells you dreams don"t have a mean. Something that make sense for you may not make sense or be good in another society: e. g. killing, cheating, etc. Role is to relative everything, but how do we relativism moral. Assignment: observing social space and what is going on. Cultural relativism: we can"t really judge what is going on in a society based on the cultural context. If you start to deconstruct everything, there is nothing to build on. Current anthropology [journal]: often have somebody write a paper, and get a lot of people write comments in it, critique each other. Could be an objective science: people and their behaviours can be analyzed, if it is repeated.
