Class 22 - the problem with the twos - dualism. Ways of thinking that divise the world into two thinkings, Enlightenment and the scientific revolution, 16th century. See the world as a sort of mechanism. Things of a world are made of parts, and they want to figure out how they made the world. The world is a watch, and they wanna see how the watch works (not how it came to be = that is religious job) Descartes : we make stuff, we think, but we are also a body = the maker of the watch and the watch. We are bodies, but we also have mind = dualism. Descartes privileges the mind part: i think and therefore i am = legacy is a problem, it distorts things. Reading: how do people from other non-western countries do not think in dualism. Poses a problem =>their critique and form of analysis is also based on culture nature analysis.
