Anthropology of human rights in foundaional ideas drawn from diferent approaches. Sources for poliical aspiraion, how do we want law to change: eg. Humanity: all humans are similarly endowed with the potenial of reason and personal growth, bildung. Reason: common sense is made sharper by training in logic, opponents of reason = church, state, class division, supersiion, prejudice, poverty, vice, reason is removed from socializaion. Funcional secularism: not abandonment of the idea of god, but of religious insituions and dogma, natural salvaion . Ernest gellner on the essence of the enlightenment. Epistemological tradiion of enlightenment philosophy, problem of knowledge was formulated in terms of a discriminaing cogniive eliism , held that all individual minds, but not all cultures and systems of meaning, were equal. All minds were endowed with the potenial of ataining a unique objecive truth, but only on condiion of employing the correct method and foreswearing the seducion of cultural indoctrinaion .
