Separating the white community from the inuit: dehumanization, loss of identity. Wasteland of nobodies : reduced to less than human beings. Rcmp: shooting of sled dogs running loosely around the settlement: rcmp claimed the dogs were menacing the community, the inuit saw the horror in this. Eskimo see the killing of their dogs as equivalent to killing one of their own: feeling that the inuit might be next. 1 out of every 7 inuit was in a tuberculosis hospital in the 1950s.
