Indigenous knowledge is critical for resurgence. indigenous knowledge systems are very poorly understood by. We must decolonize learning, recapture the essence of ancestral knowledge. Knowledge holders teach a radically different way of relating to the land and of being (p. 85). Testing the notion of community was done as europeans" presence expanded throughout north america. This probably did occur in certain times and places. There was a willingness in a number of contexts to embrace the foreigners, e. g. in the fur trade. Strategies for resistance are determined by colonial structures themselves. The bands with the most money can then create self- determination and the revitalizing programs they want. Capitalism is the dominant superstructure indigenous peoples have to navigate for their own survival. They have to use capitalism because they have no other choice, but in reaching a true indigenous reality and worldview, capitalism has little place there.
