Canon a group or selection of artworks that have traditionally been regarded as the most important artworks ever produced. Examples: picasso, manet, da vinci, monet, michelangelo, titian, warhol, van gogh etc. All white males it depends on the art historian to agree if people like kahlo and morisot are in the canon. So far, we have learned of the canon and its artists as the male genius , the 4 fathers/key thinkers of art history are all male, their texts were concerned exclusively with white male artists (riegel, wofflin, panofsky, Canonical artist: an artist who has traditionally been regarded as one of the most important artists of the past.
