Chicago wanted to celebrate femininity and brought historical female figures to attention. Essentialism a celebration of what is present in a woman"s life such as maternity and child birth. There was also an interest on core imagery. Works like hers have been critiqued only had one black female, many other feminist artists ecencialized the difference between classes of women and between women and men so they are accepting and furthering these ideologies.
