Document Summary

Plasma membrane- a membrane that holds the cell together. It regulates what can enter and what can leave the cell. The stuctube was based on the fact that protien and lipids(phospholipids/cholestrol) found on membrane. Three layers in a cross section of a membrane. Protein on on top and bottom and lipid in middle- unit memebrane model. Unit membrane model- assumed that the total protein and a uniform thickness. Protien contact can change, and membrane thickness can change- modern new. You can have chunks of cholesteral on the outside of membrane and they help it to remail uidious. You can have protien oating around surface of membrane (peripheral protiens) No ip opign of the components that mean that the transmembrane protein ipping up or down. this goes for other components. 7. receptor protiens - hormones cell takes on spe c shape or function.
