Document Summary
There is also constant flow and trafficking between the endomembrane systems. There also is a way of identifying membranes targeting them to specific locations. Classifies it as a specific vesicle of specific function. Fluid mosaic model describes a complex but is basically a flat membrane. Cells can change the curvature of their intracellular membranes. When going from a flat membrane to a curved membrane, energy needs to be spent. Also, binding energy of proteins with a negative delta g can make curving easier by compensating for the already positive delta g that would be needed. The hydrophobic chains in pc interact with one another in a parallel fashion formin a flat membrane. But, different kinds of lipids, like pe, have their chains extending out not perfectly parallel to one another & this creates a curved structure when they are stacked together. Intrinsic curvature depends on the angle the chains are separated and the siz of the head group.
