In the context of the trojan war, where the greeks sail to the city of troy. The other greek commanders pressure him to do the sacrifice, so he reluctantly kills his own daughter: tricks his daughter to come to the port. Some sources say the daughter is saved just in time by artemis, and in her place left a deer (or a goat: other accounts tell that iphigenia willingly allows herself to be sacrifice. Shows that proper sacrifice is not human, but is animal. In real life, greeks never performed human sacrifice. Nymphs: minor female deities that are playful and amorous, makes up the following of artemis - they have to take a vow of chastity, artemis"s following never included males. In one version, she turns callisto into a bear and proceeds to hunt her down. In another, callisto is impregnated by zeus, and her belly is what gives her away to artemis: callisto is expelled from the group.
